Where can I buy wool fabric to make a wool mattress pad?

I want to buy the fabric by the yard and cut it to fit a twin mattress for my toddler and also I want to cut one for my daughters crib. I have seen that companies want to charge over $150 for a twin size wool pad and that was the cheapest I found. I have been searching, but none of the fabrics I am coming up with online look anything like the ones that they are selling on the mattress cover sites. Any suggestions on what I should look for to do this or where to look?

Just took a quick look at some illustrations. Some are wool fleece -- cured animal skin with the wool intact and sheared, backed with a fabric on the skin side. Others appear to be wool batting enclosed in either wool or cotton fabrics.

Wool batting for quilts is available, but not cheap, and you'll require several layers for loft.
