Wood grain fencing can be very expensive. But for the beauty, feel, and look of realistic wood grain at only a mere fraction of the cost you should think about wood vinyl fence.
Vinyl fencing that looks like real wood grain can really add a touch of class, elegance, and sophistication to your property. It's durable, strong, long lasting, and comes in a variety of styles including, picket, traditional, pool, or privacy.
Why Vinyl Over Wood?
It's not just the price that makes vinyl a better deal than wood. Vinyl is much stronger, more durable, and less dangerous than a wood fence. Real wood splinters, erodes, falls victim to weather, and needs to be painted very frequently.
Vinyl does not splinter so you don't need to worry about people or animals hurting themselves, it needs no additional maintentance and does not need to ever be painted. It's virtually hands off once you have it installed.
Get The Right Vinyl
Make sure you get the right vinyl when purchasing a wood vinyl fence. Some companies may only sell a residential grade of vinyl. This is not what you want. You want to purchase a vinyl fence made of commercial grade vinyl. Commercial grade vinyl is much stronger and more durable than residential grade. So make sure the supplier you are buying from is selling you the right type of vinyl. Also you want to purchase a wood fence made with virgin vinyl and not recycled vinyl. Recycled vinyl can tend to not be as well made and may fail faster than virgin vinyl.
How can you fix up a wood swing set?
We just bought a house and it has an older wood swingset (which I hate the wood), Whats the best way to get that new look back again, is there any kind of coating I can put over it so the kids can't get splinters? Any suggestions on what to put on the pieces of wood that they use to climb on to the slide (they are not steps, just like wood slats) so they don't have to put their feet on the wood itself, I would like to cover the whole wood platform on the top of the slide with something too.
Weathered wood is not able to be restored. The process cannot be reversed. A good sanding with an orbital sander will reduce splinters. You might consider painting it, which will also reduce splinters. I would look into replacing the slide if it is in bad shape. Any peel and stick products will not weather and look very bad in a short period of time. If you do not want to paint it, try a good wood sealer or a danish wood oil after sanding. This will keep it from further weather damage and will need to be applied each fall season. I hope this helps.
