What do you think of tempur pedic mattresses? I'm am considering buying the Rhapsody model.?
I currently have a Sealy posturepedic perfect about 8 yrs now. Bought a memory foam topper, 2 1/2" regular foam with 1 1/2" memory foam on top. It's comfy but I still wake up with horrific back pain that takes several hours to relieve after getting up. I tried the sleep number mattress for 2 months and it didn't help, so I returned it. I'm actually 1 wk into the trial period on the rhapsody model by tempur pedic and have just had 2 nights with no back pain on rising in the morning. I have to return it after 2 wks if I don't want to keep it. Just wanting to know if anyone else has experienced tremendous relieve with the tempurpedic. I would hate to send it back prematurely, but don't want to delay past the return date if the mattress takes longer to adjust to. And I don't want to pay this $2700 bucks if it's gonna go bad on me later before the 20 yrs. guarantee. Lot of money to pay for something! risky buy. Thanks
Well it was time to retire your sealy! The true life expectancy of an inner spring bed is 10 years or less depending on use (how many people - are your dogs sleeping on it to). My Sealy Posturpedic Crown Jewel lasted 7 (I have 2 big dogs who thought it was their bed too). The only issue with tempurpedics is that the foam retains heat unlike other beds - but it is a great bed and if it hasn't made you sweat then keep it. My chiropractor sleeps on the Bob-o-pedic (the Bob's Store brand of the tempurpedic) - a large chain in the northeast of furniture stores. I opted for a sleep number myself which has done wonders for me. You must understand bed warranties though - a 20 year warranty means that the bed will not fail in less than 20 years due to a manufacturers defect. It does not mean that the bed is guaranteed to last 20 without problems of normal wear. The warranty is also prorated - which means the entire cost of the bed isn't covered for 20 years. The value takes a nose dive after the first year. That is why I chose sleep number. The air chambers can be replaced when they finally go. As can my memory foam topper as it's in a zipper compartment on top instead of being sewn as most pillow tops are. It took getting used to the feel of the bed but now I love it (so does my back and neck and my dogs). Might be a good idea to have either some deep tissue massage or adjustments from a chiro if your back is giving your problems. Good luck with your new bed.
