Have not camped in ages and we are sick of paying for hotel rooms!

What tent brand do you recommend?
I know about having a tarp under the tent to protect the floor, and bring extra tarps for covering the tent in case of leaks, extra rope and extra tent stakes.
What is the point of putting water sealer on the seams of the tent when the whole thing is at risk for leaks? Have you ever done this?
We will stay in campgrounds equipped with bathrooms and showers
Buy firewood when you get there or bring it with us at a cheaper price?
We have a fabric store that custom cuts foam of all sizes, we plan on doing this and getting a really thick foam pad. Unsure of the air mattresses.
We are thinking of going on Wednesday, so we do have time to get some helpful tips.
