depends on the quality of the mattress, number of coils/springs/amount of padding on top. look up various sites on the internet and compare costs. go to stores and LAY on different mattresses. You need to know how it feels-do you prefer softer/more padding-firmer/less padding. You should buy the BEST mattress you can afford. 1/3rd of your life will be spent there, and poor rest equals a poor day. We purchased a Serta 2 yrs ago. It was about $2000 with a 15 yr warranty. Pillow top. It has been FABULOUS, and we are very pleased. It's a coil and each is wrapped. Do some internet homework on how they are built. It's a pretty important decision, and you need 2 make an informed decision.
