Up all night, weaving 'mongst the headboards,
I'm dreaming of leaving, sitting
motionlessly wishing for some small glimmer
of humanity to shine through
this starch-white cell, the world is straining,
waiting to crash through,
to accept my bloody hands broken over glass
and records, and crooked feet and minds
bobbing, grinning humorlessly to the outside,
looking at the loony bin from the loony bin,
from one crazy to another. Smile world!
Ye schizophrenic world! Dance and be wise,
your mood is a depressing shade of maroon,
ugly and bruised in your contempt
for all things drifting toward the sun.
The sterile needle approaching from Heaven
is gleaming future for the masses,
all in their clean ironed white shirts and
singing praise for their metallic dream-inducing
god-devil, wistfully gazing up at the myriad sky
and sinking under the point to a
fiery tempest of pain and bliss...
