Has anyone ever made curtains or a headboard?
I watch alot of HGTV and I have a month of down time. I want to tap into my creative juices. Has anyone ever made curtains? What do I need besides material, needle and thread? What about a headboard? I want to make it with material, padding and a stiff backing. What do I use for the legs? I'm not nailing anything to the wall, I'm in a rental! Any suggestions?
Curtains.. You can either buy a pattern at JoAnn's Fabrics. Most envelopes will have numerous styles to choose from. Extra materials will depend on what style of curtain you choose.
Headboard is easy. Pull your bed out from the wall. Metal frames have holes where the headboard is attached using bolts. Measure the hole and the hardware store will sell you the proper size. You will need four. Sheet of plywood, you now make the decision if the top of the headboard is straight across or does it curve. Foam padding from JoAnns, batting and fabric. Foam first then the batting and fabric over that. You need a heavy duty staple gun. Go to your library and look at the decorating books and borrow the ones that have what you want.
Also the website for HGTV and type in padded headboard. You will find all sorts of styles with directions and yardage needed.
