Ways to easily re-do furniture? Paint? Stickers?
I have my dad's childhood furniture. When I was born, it was painted white and the tops were sanded and varnished. Needless to say, over the past 25 years, it has gotten shabby looking. My husband wants to use this for our baby's room. It is a nightstand, tall dresser and child's desk. He's not the "craftist" person but wants to repaint them white and put vertical baby blue or pink stripes with a darker pin stripe in the center of each one. I think he's going to get really aggravated trying to make stripes look straight and professional. Is there anywhere online that I can look for easy furniture re-do ideas? Maybe even something that we can buy from craft stores such as those rub on sticker things. Just in search of ideas.
I think the stripes would work. First just paint them white and let them completely dry. Then use painters tape and a level. Make stripes as big or as small as you want in tape...level ensures accuracy...and paint between the tape. When its completely dry you can remove the tape. I have also gotten some ideas from lowe's website...I think they have some do it yourself things...also I have used HGTV's website. Another idea is to find catalogs with furniture you ike and try to copy it. GOOD LUCK!!
