I have two different colored dressers that I want to paint black?
I recently moved in with my boyfriend and we both brought our own furniture. We want the bedroom furniture to match and thus we want to paint the two dressers we have so that they are both black. One dresser is a light wood and the other is a dark cherry color. How can we paint them so that they turn out the same shade of black and actually look like they were a set?
first thing to do is remove all the handles then thoroughly wash the furniture down with a solution of 1 cup ammonia to 1 gallon of water this will remove any old dirt and wax or polish let dry at least 24 hrs.get a good oil based primer and have them tint it gray if it appears to be well coated and even then paint if not apply a second coat of primer then paint in a oil based black paint in a satin finish using 2 coats and letting dry 24 hrs. in between coats then using spray paint spray all the handles and knobs the same color . if you follow these steps they'll turn out great and you won't have any problems with chipping .good luck to you both on your "new move"
