Why are mattresses so ridiculously expensive?
Everyone needs them. It's just a bunch of springs and foam and usually inexpensive material covering it. $1500 is TOTALLY ridiculous for a plain ole mattress and box springs. You can get a whole wood bedroom set cheaper that a lump of metal and foam.

You don't need a bed frame, lamps (if you have an overhead light), night stand nor much of anything else in your bedroom. However, you do have to have a mattresses unless you don't mind sleeping on the floor & they know you will pay.
