What should I be putting over the mattress? How Do I make Beds? (from Single Dad)?
When I was young, we used to have blankets on the mattress - and then the sheet went over the top. Then we made the bed up with sheets and blankets and an eiderdown.
Now there are these fitted 'mattress protectors' covers made of a cheap material. But it never seems very adequate having these protectors and the sheet - you can feel the mattress quilting through it.
Should I still be putting a blanket over the mattress as well?? OR please tell me what I should be doing.
Basically - I am asking how should I be be making the beds particularly what goes on the mattress?

You put a bed skirt under the mattress to hide the box springs, then you put a fitted sheet on the mattress (the ones with the springy stretchy corners) and a sheet if you prefer one, then a nice comforter, and a decorative blanket folded in half to go at the foot of the bed. You need 5 pillows for a professional look. All matching and coordinating of course with the color scheme of the bedroom. Since you're a man I suggest simple color scheme of black and white.
