Will a California king mattress fit on a king size bed frame?
My parents are giving my husband and I their king size bedroom suit, minus the mattress set (I don't care to sleep on something that someone else has been sleeping on for years). My husband is very tall, 6'3", and wants to purchase a california king mattress. Before I go out and purchase one I would like to know, from someone who has already dealt with this, will it fit.

a regular king is 76" wide x 80" long
a california king is 72" wide x 84" long
HOWEVER.
It is Important that you look at the headboard and footboard. It will have a 2nd set of holes or vertical slots inset 4 inches on each side both on the headboard and footboard if it will accomodate a California King. Not all king beds do this. If so you will need a steel bed frame to attach hdbd and ftbd and support mattress set because the old one will not longer work.
