Tempurpedic seems to be too firm for me - need advice.?

I've had the 10 Inch Tempurpedic mattress for about a month. It seems a bit too firm for me. I still wake up in the middle of the night and toss and turn. My dog also tosses and turns on it. I've taken the cover off and slept on just the foam which is a little bit better but not enough.
I think I need something more softer and plushier. I think the idea of the memory foam is a good one but this one is too firm.
Is there a way to make the mattress cushier or should I just take it back. If I take it back, what brands should I look into? I'm thinking about the Sealy springfree whistlewood. I LOVED the kKingsdown mattress but did not get that one because it had so many bad ratings on epinions.com.
