what do i do about my mattress?
my mattress has been in storage for a month, and now it has some sort of horrible moldy smell. how do i get that nasty smell out? i really can't afford a new mattress, already! plus this mattress is so GOOD!
Well, it obviously was subjected to some damp conditions. For healh purposes, you may want to re-consider and purchase a new one.
If this really is not an option, take some hot water and a mild detergent, and a clean rag. Wash it off by hand (don't soak it, just use a damp rag). Let it dry completely, and give it a thorough spray of antibacterial Fabreeze. You may have to repeat the Fabreeze step a few times, letting it dry between applications. While you are doing this, make sure the mattress is in a dry location. Running a dehumidifier in the same room with the mattress would be a great help.
